Club Notes 11/03/2018

Club notes 11/03/2018
Well done and thanks to our St Michaels quiz team of Kevin Guckian, Geraldine Leydon, Barry McGonigle and Conor McLoughlin who finished joint 3rd at the County Scor Quiz in Hannons Hotel on Friday night.
An unlucky week for the club saw our senior team lose away to St Barry’s on Saturday in the Tansey Cup
The minor lads were beaten by 4 points in their opening match away to Western Gaels, they are due to play at home to Tulsk at 12pm on St Patricks Day. Support for the lads is always appreciated.
Our young U14 boys had their first outing of the year on Sunday in the division 2 league, showing great character and spirit when losing out to a strong combination of Kilmore/Shannon Gaels.
The U16 girls were narrowly defeated by a goal against Oran away. They play St Faithleach’s at home on Sunday next at 4pm.
A Child Protection Course is to be held in the complex at 7.30 this Tuesday the 13th of March. This training is mandatory for anyone who is involved or wishes to get involved with our underage structure now or in the future.
2018 is a significant year for St. Michael's GAA Club. We have a double celebration marking both the 40th and 25th anniversaries, respectively, of our club winning the Roscommon Junior Championship Finals of 1978 and 1993. We are commemorating both these milestones in our history in a special way with a celebratory function in the Bush Hotel, Carrick on Shannon on Saturday 31st March.  St. Michael's has grown in strength in recent years with much needed new and improved facilities in Ardcarne Park which continue to assist in developing and promoting our games for girls and boys in the future. Our social night on the 31st March is an ideal opportunity for all our community to renew old acquaintances and meet new members of our community who are always welcome in St. Michael's.  Any winning silverware in the parish should be fondly remembered as we honour these two winning teams of the past and the individuals involved for their dedication and commitment to our club both on and off the field.
Special guests on the night along with a surprise guest of TV fame will guarantee a night NOT to be missed. Your presence and support would be appreciated.  Tickets available from local public outlets and club officers (Price €40 includes 4 course meal and dancing till late!) Thank you
The club wishes to extend its sincere condolences to the O’Dowd/ Burke family and to the McGlynn Family on their recent bereavements!
